Who We Are We are a team of men and women, called to extend God's kingdom in the prisons. We seek also to disciple and encourage the ones' who give their lives to Jesus to go on in their walk with Him. We have now been established since 1997. We have two paid staff and a growing team of volunteers.
Our Vision We look for:
- A growing Christian witness in every prison. - An awareness among Christians of the needs of those in prison. - A penal policy informed by both love and justice. - More accommodation and support for those coming out of prison.Prayer for every prison - A commitment to evangelism by christians, only Jesus can bring Salvation.
Types Of Activity In Prison Ministry:
- After-care. - Prayer support groups. - Drop-in Centres. - One-to-one visits.
Location Premier Prison, Bowhouse, Kilmarnock. State Hospital, Carstairs. HMP Shotts. HMP Dumfries. HMP Saughton, Edinburgh.
Our magazine (newsletter)
We have prayer/newsletter going out quarterly. This goes out free to all our prayer supporters, about 200 copies.
About Our Prison Ministry 4 Strategic Thrusts:
Promoting programmes within prisons that deal with life-controlling problems e.g. alcohol and drug dependency and which encourage Christian Discipleship. Developing a Christian Book Ministry, distributing free to Scottish prisons. Providing Aftercare and Ministry to prisoners and their families. Co-ordinating in Scotland the Ministry of COPE ( Coaltion of Prison Evangelists.
Support In The work we do in and out of the prison houses of Scotland. A deeper walk with God for each team member and the continuing unity in our team of volunteers. That we see clearly the will of God for our ministry and that we fullfil the vision that is intrusted to us.
